Founded in 1888 in the centre of the village of Mittelhausbergen, Au Tilleul Hotel Restaurant has been a family business for 5 generations.

137 years of tradition at Hotel Au Tilleul
The hotel was named “Au Tilleul” in 1888 by our great-grandfather Michel Lorentz. Françoise and Michel Lorentz took over the family hotel in 1969 and they were the third generation.
From this farm inn, they developed the restaurant, offering their customers typical Alsatian dishes. In 1992, Mr and Mrs Lorentz created the Hotel Au Tilleul.
Having worked in some of France’s most prestigious hotels, Jacques Lorentz returned to the family hotel in 1995 and took over from his father in July 2000.
Initially an inn, the restaurant is now a centre of gastronomic excellence, celebrating its 137th anniversary in 2025!

Our hotel is located just outside the capital of Alsace, in Mittelhausbergen, a small village that is part of the Eurometropole. A free private car park is available for the convenience of our guests.

There are plenty of things to do while you are here. You can enjoy concerts and shows at Strasbourg’s Zénith just 10 minutes away, ice karting and ice skating at the Iceberg ice-rink, 15 minutes away, swimming at the Schiltigheim swimming pool, only 10 minutes away, and cycling or walking along the Forts trail, on the scenic country lanes around Hausbergen Hill, or the extensive 560 km network of cycle paths created by the city of Strasbourg.

Awarded the Green Key certificate, we actively take steps to reduce our environmental footprint and raise our guests’ awareness of this sustainable approach.
Waste sorting and recycling
We work with Sikle to recycle our biowaste. We also sort cardboard, plastic, glass, coffee capsules and metals with our partners.
Efficient management of water and energy consumption
We recover water from rain runoff, carafes and the ice machine for watering plants and pre-washing dishes. Our bedrooms and bathrooms are equipped with pressure reducers, presence sensors and LED lighting to limit waste.
